The Young 'uns live shows are renowned roller coaster rides. With heart-on-the-sleeve storytelling, beautiful lyrics, warm harmonies and relentless repartee, Sean Cooney, Michael Hughes and David Eagle (the award-winning stand-up comedian) write and sing folk songs for today.

Their music — described by The Scotsman as “a heartfelt secular hymnary for these troubled times and a rallying call for humanity” — is built on empathy, hope, and joy. It’s an approach that has earned them three BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards.

What began nearly two decades ago as three tipsy teenagers stumbling into a Teesside folk club has grown into one of the most celebrated acts in British folk music. Yet Sean, Michael and David still perform with the same infectious enthusiasm they had that first night — whether on the Glastonbury stage, in a classroom writing songs with schoolchildren, or broadcasting on BBC Radio 4.

At the heart of it all is their trademark: immaculate three-part harmony, stories of humanity, and songs that make audiences laugh, cry — and sing along.
