Anelise Gamulescu

Anelise will play Debussy’s magical Images, two beautiful pieces by his female compatriot and near contemporary, Mel Bonis, Chopin’s thrilling 3 rd Scherzo, Liszt’s transcendental Harmonies du soir, and will bookend the programme with two mysterious and highly evocative short pieces by Romanian composers that will transport you to Romania without the need for WizzAir and Luton Airport!

Hayden Miller

Hayden Miller will play one of Couperin’s extraordinarily imaginative suites, followed by Debussy’s erotically charged L’isle joyeuse. Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantasie, a piece by turns both enigmatic and magnificent, is followed by two of his most beautiful nocturnes, and a set of mazurkas which exhibit Chopin’s genius for a certain pathos that is at the same time uplifting.

Özel Günhanlar

Özel begins with one of Mozart’s most charming and innocent sonatas, followed by the polar opposite: a creepy piece of chromaticism from Debussy! Scriabin’s Fantasy is the epitome of Russian late romanticism, but tinged with Chopinesque passion. Liszt’s Mazeppa is passion of a full-blooded heroic nature, after which Balakirev’s Berceuse will transport listeners into a magical, fairy-tale dreamland. The concert ends with Fazil Say’s witty take on a well-known Paganini theme.
