Sean is one of the most versatile guitarists performing today, His
innovative approach to the instrument has enhanced his reputation for
having “one of the most discriminating ears in the business”
(Gramophone). Amongst his many awards, he was the first guitarist
ever to be selected for BBC Radio 3’s New Generation Artists scheme
and he was also awarded a much valued Borletti-Buitoni Trust
Radio 3 listeners (16 th June) to ‘Breakfast – Bach Before 7’ may have
heard Sean’s stunning recording of the Prelude and Fugue from the
Lute Suite BWV 997.
His name reflects his English/Japanese ancestry. Born and living in Edinburgh, he is in great demand for concerts including at festivals both here and abroad and he is a regular at the Wigmore Hall. He is also a fine exponent of the lute and he also plays the electric guitar forwhich there is a broadening serious repertoire.
